Terry Rouprich

Terry Rouprich, LCSW

Let me help you find meaning and joy in life again.

Hello, I’m Terry — and I’m so glad you’re here! I know that reaching out for support is a big step, and I’m honored you’re considering it.

I have a deep passion for helping people. I love guiding people towards positive changes and watching them transform their lives and discover their own unique gifts and passions. I have more than 30 years of experience as a licensed certified social worker (LCSW). I was born and raised in Baton Rouge and received my master’s degree from LSU in 1990.

Working with Me

I bring an open, non-judgmental presence to sessions. I have a natural ability to uncover whats under the surface and help people connect their current concerns to their past experiences.

I currently work with adults using Advanced Integrative Therapy (AIT), Energy Psychology, and integrated perspectives from trauma, neuroscience, and somatic approaches.

I enjoy supporting those struggling with the impacts of relational and childhood trauma; prenatal and birth trauma; ancestral trauma; emotional distress, including anxiety and depression; grief and loss; and finding clarity for navigating life’s changes and transitions.

Life isn’t always easy. Sometimes, even the strongest people amongst us need a little bit of help to work through some of life’s more challenging problems. We all have battles to fight and obstacles to overcome at some point.

My Approach

In my work, I use a gentle collaborative approach to therapy. I believe that we all want to live our lives with contentment and joy. I also understand that figuring out how to do so can be difficult at times. It’s my goal to help you find new coping tools, learn to change unhelpful thought and behavior patterns, and move toward resilience and well-being in all areas of your life.

I believe that we are all born with a unique gift to offer to the world. We become the most vibrant and joyful versions of ourselves when we're fulfilling this purpose. Even though we all struggle with many of the same issues, we are all unique individuals.

“Authenticity is a collection of choices that we have to make every day.  It’s about the choice to show up and be real. The choice to be honest. The choice to let our true selves be seen.”

Brene Brown,
The Gifts of Imperfection

Who I Help

Life can provide us with many challenges that can cause us to feel emotionally stuck, making it difficult to know how to move our lives forward.

I am passionate about supporting those who are dealing with:
  • The impacts of relational and childhood trauma
  • Emotional distress, including anxiety and depression
  • Grief and loss
  • Finding clarity for navigating life’s challenges and transitions

People who come to see me for therapy often feel stuck in a current life situation and are tired of struggling with the same old habitual behavior patterns. They may be experiencing a lack of meaning in their lives, have a past trauma history, and/or trying to resolve issues that are causing negative feelings and/or behavior patterns that they have struggled with for a long time. These kinds of issues may affect feeling connected in relationships with  friends and family and in maintaining long-term satisfying intimate relationships.

You Don't Have to Do This Alone

I will help you to navigate life’s ups and downs so they feel more manageable rather than overwhelming.  Together, we’ll uncover your strengths, overcome self-doubt, and create a life filled with purpose and fulfillment.

Whether you’re facing a challenging situation or simply ready to make positive changes in your life, therapy can help you create a happier and more fulfilling life. Let’s work together to help you to let go of beliefs, habits and patterns that no longer serve you so that you can experience greater fulfillment, meaning, and purpose in your life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do You Accept Insurance?

I am not on any insurance panels, so I am considered an out of network provider. I can provide you with a superbill so that you can submit to your insurance provider to receive reimbursement. PPOs generally have good reimbursement once the deductible is met. Here are a few questions you may want to ask your insurance provider: What is my behavioral/mental health out of network deductible? How much of my deductible have I met? How much is the reimbursement for a session with an LCSW therapist provider who is out of network?

What do you charge?

My fee is $150 per 50-minute session. I accept credit, debit, checks or cash for payment.

Can i get a free consultation?

Seeking therapy and finding the right therapist is a big decision. Call or email me to schedule your free twenty-minute consultation call today. In this consultation, I'll aim to get a sense of what is going on for you and how you can best be helped. You’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have and we’ll get a good sense of each other, which will help us to know if I’m the best fit for you.

How Does scheduling work?

For most clients, I suggest that we begin meeting once a week.  Once we meet some of your goals, we may decide to meet bi-weekly or less often.

Research and best practices in the field support weekly sessions for better outcomes, meeting your therapy goals, and developing a stronger therapeutic relationship. When you feel ready, we can discuss your treatment progress to help us determine a plan and timeframe for tapering your sessions to support a gentle close to our work together.

How often and how long do we need to meet?

The length of time you're in therapy with me will depend on a variety of things including the severity and intensity of your current struggles and whether you’re looking to address a single concern or work on multiple deeper concerns. Every person is unique and their journey through therapy is unique, as well. The amount of time it takes to meet your therapy goals and feel better will depend on the circumstances, challenges and supporting factors that you bring to therapy.

How does individual counseling work?

Individual counseling consists of 50-minute one-on-one sessions that help you work through your concerns.  First, I provide a safe, accepting space so that you will feel comfortable sharing your struggles with me. Through hearing your story, I will start to get a picture of what your challenges are. We will start with helping you with immediate concerns like managing difficult emotions and challenging life situations. We will also work to discover what your goals are in therapy and in life. Keeping your unique goals in mind, we’ll figure out what’s needed to help you reach them. Over the course of our sessions, you will start making progress toward the life you desire.
